I predicted less Japanese Beatles this year thinking that 2011 was only a population spike.  I was wrong.  After I got h0me from a BWCA trip  last week I noticed my Pussy Willow, Elm and Virginia Creeper all had the classic lace looking bite marks all over them.  Upon further inspection I witnessed hundred of mating/feeding beatles all over!  Here is the good news.  I had a spare can of Ortho Orthenx in my shed and I took it out, sprayed, and hoped for beatle death.  Two hours later I went to my garden for inspection and I found not ONE beatle alive.  I am going our right now to check again.  If that stuff held them off for over a day then I will be a really happy camper.  Stay tuned.
