Holy smokes……what is this weather all about? The plants are thinking the same thing.
Here is what I saw this past week that might have peaked your interest:
1) Yarrow in full-on yellow.
2) Pink splashes of Spirea in commercial parking lots.
3) The large trees that have white flowers are Catalpa.
4) The medium size tree with white flowers and Japanese Lilac Tree.
5) What you are seeing in the ditches is Crown Vetch. Pretty in bloom and it fits along the highways. That is where it stays as it is one of the most aggressive erosion control plants.
Crown Vetch is just as bad as these others for their aggressiveness: Creeping Charlie, Snow on the Mountain, Lily of the Valley, and Obedient Plant.
We stay cool all summer as we are locked in perpetual Arctic/Canadian air.
