Beds and Borders Landscape Design, Inc. was founded by Michael Hart and Andy Freeland and is located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Andy Freeland

Owner/Design

Andy Freeland is President of Beds & Borders Landscape Design. He plays a highly active role in personally meeting all new clients, designing the landscapes, and pulling together all details ensuring each project exceeds expectations. Andy graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Natural Resources degree focusing on landscape preservation and sustainability. Pursuing further education his path led him to the Landscape Design program at Dakota County Technical College. Away from his business, Andy spends his free time with his wife Sara and 3 boys. Travel, yoga, church, nature, fishing, and a good night of tv are all important in the Freeland house.

Mike Hart

Owner/Operations

Mike Hart heads up the landscape installation department. He has extensive knowledge of all the technical and engineering elements of each project. It’s Mike’s job to organize the installation and decide on the best equipment to use to complete the project safely and efficiently. He knows that careful planning and choosing the right tools for the job will make the process run smoothly and produce a beautiful result. Mike Hart’s day never stops. If he can find the time to hunt with his dog Dora, go out to eat with his Wife Sara, snowmobile, fish, or just tinker in his tool shop he will. In the winter, he takes care of all the machinery and gets it ready for another busy year.

Sara Freeland

Administration

Sara Freeland, a graduate of the University of St Thomas and California Lutheran University, helps with the day to day running of Beds & Borders. She keeps the company running smoothly through calculating job estimates, obtaining pictures and site data, performing continuous field research, as well as collaborating with her husband, Andy Freeland, on an occasional landscape design. Sara keeps busy outside of work with her and Andy’s three young boys, her baby girl (a Brussel’s Griffon dog) as well as the maintaining of her garden and yard. She loves projects, both personal and job-related, to create unique and beautiful things.

Chris Blomberg

Softscape Foreman

Chris Blomberg has been lead foreman of Beds and Borders from the beginning. His incredible work ethic and attention to detail contribute to an impeccable product. Chris enjoys cycling on or off road, taking fishing trips and landscaping in his yard. Chris, Andy and Mike are 1994 graduates from Northfield MN and lifelong friends. Together they enjoy annual trips to the BWCA and have fished many Minnesota lakes.

Jesse Pehrson

Landscape Designer

Jesse is passionate about landscape design and strives to create cutting edge design that puts his work above the rest in this industry. His career started after High School by heading to the Marines. After spending one tour away from Minnesota Jesse came back home and enrolled in the Landscape Horticulture Program at Hennepin County Tech. Now with almost 10 years of quality design under his belt, it is safe to say that his are some of the best in the industry! Jesse spends his free time with his wife Jess traveling to fun places with their 2 dogs.

Julio Segundo

Lead Hardscape Foreman

Julio has been Lead Hardscape Foreman at Beds & Borders for 16 years. He started out in the field as a very inexperienced worker and throughout the years he has refined his skills to become an amazing stone artist. Julio can build anything that is thrown at him. He is truly impressive. On top of being a great worker, Julio is a great guy and a dedicated family man.

Jared Amerson

Lead Hardscape Foreman

Jared is the first to arrive and the last to leave for the day. His work ethic propelled him to the top and he strives to make sure that every decision is calculated and precise. 15 years ago, Jared started laying mulch, now he can erect any size wall or chisel the most unique of flagstone patios. Many of the photos in the gallery are a direct result of Jared’s hands. Outside of work, Jared loves spending time with his wife and daughter as well as tackling projects at his new house.
