Annuals are at their full glory and the yards are lush. If we can stay moist and get some really nice sun then we are going to have an amazing run of color soon as the mid-summer plants emerge.
Right now there is a transition from Spring plants to Summer stuff. Here is what I saw this past week:
1) In the ditch: Clover, Tigerlily, Sumac and Grasses are all in fruit or bloom.
2) In the landscape: Groundcover Sedum, Karl Foerster, Purple Conefloer, and Annabelle Hydrangea are all shaping up.
Cut back your Salvia right now as if you do it will re-bloom in a month. Leggy Catmint is also a candidate for this as well.
Clean up the old flower heads on the Peonies.
