What else is there to do during a brutal winter than go out and ID some really interesting trees. Sounds boring, right? Well, the following list includes a handful of the most interesting trees we can see in the winter landscape here in MN. Get out the the house and get some fresh air. If you are really interested where some of these are email me and I will get you going in the right direction!
Swamp White Oak – This urban oak tree retains its leaves all winter.
Amur Cherry – The shiny cinnamon-colored bark on this tree might be the prettiest of all.
Blue Beech – The bark on this tree is like the flexed bicep you see on anatomy poster in the doctors office.
Paper Birch – Unmistakable.
Kentucky Coffee Tree – The long seedpods hanging from this specimen tree are ever-present.
Get out. Have fun! Enjoy MN while it lasts. Spring in on the Way!
